At Michael Richard Salon, highlights are never one-size-fits-all. Every highlight service is completely customized and tailored to you—your hair, your goals, your haircut, your budget, and your lifestyle.

During your consultation, your stylist will help design a highlight plan based not only on the look you want today, but also on how often you want to visit

 the salon and how long you would like to go between maintenance appointments.

Whether you love a brighter, more traditional highlighted look or prefer soft, dimensional color with a more natural grow-out, we will create a plan specifically for you.

Placement, brightness, tone and dimension are customized according to your natural hair, haircut and desired maintenance schedule.

New Guest Highlights & Transformations

If you are new to Michael Richard Salon, your first highlighting appointment will typically be booked as a New Highlight Service or Highlight Transformation.

This allows your stylist the appropriate amount of time to evaluate your existing color, discuss your inspiration, create a customized placement and formulation, and begin building the look you want.

Once we get your hair where you want it, maintenance becomes much easier. Your Customized Highlight Maintenance Plan.  After your initial highlight or transformation, your stylist will recommend a maintenance schedule specifically for your hair.

Depending on your technique and desired look, you may be able to maintain your highlights approximately every 6–15 weeks.

Guests who return within their recommended maintenance window can select the appropriate Highlight Maintenance 

Service at a special maintenance rate.

For example, a guest who loves brighter traditional highlights may choose to return more frequently, while someone with balayage or lived-in color may intentionally choose a softer grow-out that allows them to go longer between appointments.

Your maintenance schedule is part of the customization.

If you go beyond the recommended maintenance timeframe, additional highlighting, placement and product may be required to restore the look. Your next appointment may then be considered a New Highlight Retouch or Highlight Transformation rather than regular maintenance.
